What Tymender does locally

Short version: Tymender works with files you choose, shows a preview before changes are written, and keeps its app data on your Mac by default.

Last updated: June 2026

Files and folders

Tymender acts on files you select, drop, send from Finder, or place inside watched folders you add. It does not scan your whole Mac.

Local app data

Settings, watched folders, rename history, organize history, recent folders, presets, and optional copied-text history are stored locally on your device.

On-device analysis

Text extraction, OCR, metadata reading, and fallback naming run locally. Apple Intelligence is used on-device when available on your Mac.

No uploads by default

Out of the box, Tymender does not upload your files or file contents to Tymender servers. There is no Tymender account required for local naming.

Optional providers

Optional external providers are only used if you explicitly configure your own provider key. Until then, naming stays on-device.

Finder extension

The Finder extension is handoff-only. It passes selected files to Tymender for review. It does not analyze, upload, or rename files by itself.

Before anything changes

Suggested names are shown in a preview first. Files are renamed only after you confirm the batch inside Tymender.
